FROMM Pinot Noir 2021-under cork

Dusky, dark berry fruit on the nose, with damson plum and a hint of violet florals. Elegant and concentrated on the palate, the tannic framework and vibrant, refreshing acidity provide structure to a lively hedgerow-berry core of juicy bramble, rosehip jelly and a hint of cacao nib from subtly handled oak. The tannins are finely realised, carrying the concentrated fruit expression through to a pleasing and persistent finish.

Moderately intense pinot noir from four different vineyards in the Southern Valleys. Clearly a good vintage with ripe dark cherry/berry, blackberry, dark chocolate, and vanilla flavours supported by a firm backbone of French oak, Stylish, age-worthy wine that is good value at this price 04 OCT 2023

Vibrant bouquet with a core of dark plums and black currant, earthy mineral qualities and kitchen cupboard spices signal oak use. Youthful, fresh, varietal and inviting. A dry wine on the palate with core red fruit flavours of plum and raspberry, black currant, a touch of licorice and smoky barrel. Firm tannins and plenty of acidity present a firm structure with fruit power and a sense of the new complete the palate with a lengthy finish. Best drinking from 2026 through 2032+.

Offering excellent fruit purity and poise, the wine shows dark plum, sweet cherry, violet, thyme and subtle game notes on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that's plump and elegantly flowing. Tannins are fine and well-pitched, finishing long and soothing. Certified Organic. At its best: now to 2036.www.frommwinery.co.nz. Oct 2023.

After the generous 2019 offering we are again blessed with a truly excellent and very classic Pinot Noir vintage, arguably the best since 2010 in terms of finesse, elegance and varietal purity. The colour is bright with a dark red hue. There is clarity and precision on the nose with ripe yet cool dark fruit aromas, complex and transparent at the same time. Like a racehorse, this wine is all muscle but no fat, subtle power with an elusive lightness, flowing seamlessly through the palate and finishing with real tension, firm structure and a fine tannin coating in the long finish.

26 Sep, 2022 – This has a pretty nose of dried violets, wild raspberries, blackberries, licorice, cloves and crushed stones. All in balance here, with supple wild berry fruit well-integrated with dried spice, wrapped up in firm and silky tannins. Long and flavorful. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Bright, medium density Pinot colour with a nice dark hue. The nose is youthful, generous and direct, offering ripe dark fruit aromas with a gentle earthy touch and refreshing clarity.
At first, the palate is vibrant and appealing with an almost rustic elegance yet without any hard edges. As the wine opens up in the glass, there is a wonderful presence of ripe, crunchy fruit, fine tannins and excellent structure, all blending together into a harmonious and complex Pinot of superb transparency and tension.

I’ve been enjoying this wine over three days to discover that day three delivers the best expression for this wine and vintage. Aromas and flavours of a deeply complex and fine savoury bouquet. Layers of red berries and wood spice, smoky oak and red berry scents of Doris plum and dark cherry, some wild forest berries and kitchen spice suggestions. Equally complex on the palate, dry with a core of fruit, contrasting tannins and acidity layered between savoury, mineral and spice. Delicious, youthful and lengthy. Best drinking from late 2022 through 2030.  14 OCT 2021.

29 Nov, 2021 – Such impressive freshness and vitality of red-cherry fruit on offer here, this has a gently herbal and sappy edge, as well as earth and spice. The palate has such supple and fleshy red-cherry fruit. Impressively pure and bright pinot here. Drink now. Screw cap.

FROMM Pinot Noir 2018

Opening with vibrant bright, red fruit aromas, the nose is under laced with earthy undertones, and a subtle dusting of oak. The palate is medium weight with supple fine tannin support. This wine is more a reflection of its terroirs and the vintage than just simply nice Pinot Noir fruit.

Elegant and splendidly complex, the inviting bouquet shows red cherry, spiced plum, olive, violet and subtle mushroom characters. The palate delivers lovely weight and flow with fabulous fruit purity, wonderfully complemented by refined mouthfeel and polished tannins. It’s stylish and harmonious with a lengthy textured finish. A very good example of Marlborough pinot noir with red fruits, a suggestion of floral and attractive spicy oak that flatters rather than competes with winemaker artefact.      20202025.   22 Jan 2020

Very layered and all seamlessly integrated with bright red cherries and some spice and stony notes. The palate has a smooth, lightly grainy texture. Brighter cherry flavors are underpinned by gently chalky, stony tannins. Acidity cleanses the finish and holds it in tautly focused mode. From organically grown grapes. Drink over the next five years.

"This is a bright and bouncy springtime Pinot from the well regarded organic producer FROMM. The cinnamon and clove spice get along graciously with the slinky red and blueberry fruit and floral characters. Tingly acidity on the palate makes the fruit pop. It’s backed by savory, sappy notes and a talc-like cinch of tannins that hits just at the right spot. Light-bodied and chillable, this is a playful yet seriously well made wine. Drink now–2027."
